RIDGECREST — Services for Roy C. Kiser Sr., 91, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in Alexandria, La., will be at noon today at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Denny Braswell and the Rev. Preston Holder officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Kiser was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Matewan, W.Va., the son of Willie and Nora Kiser. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in Natchez after 36 years of service.
Mr. Kiser was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He was wounded and received the Purple Heart Medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Walter, David Bernie, Fred and Virgil Kiser; and two sisters, Ruby Norris and Nellie Craig.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Rosemary Kiser; two daughters, Joy K. Vestal of Ferriday and Jenneth K. Oxley of Jonesville; one son, Roy C. Kiser Jr. of Panama City, Fla.; six grandchildren, Rowdy Sewell of Ruston, La., Candy Fairbanks of Jonesville, Derek Johnson of Alexandria, Kyle Johnson of Vidalia, Kala Roberts of Youngsville, La., and Tiffany Mannino of Prairieville, La.; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Billy Frank Kiser and Donald Kiser; and one sister, June Kiser Sisk.
Pallbearers will be Lt. Col. Rowdy Sewell, Dr. Derek Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Jerry Oxley, Steve Vestal and Clay Fairbanks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Harris, Tommy Barron and Benton “Red” Blackmon.
