ST. JOSEPH — Services for Mary Louise “Pony” Hartley, 61, of Waterproof, who died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in St. Joseph.
Burial will follow at Panola Cemetery in St. Joseph under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Hartley was born April 4, 1951, in Newellton, La., the daughter of Vecy Bates Sr. and Louise Roach Bates.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Marshall Hartley Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Marshall Hartley; her parents of St. Joseph; two sons, Anthony Hartley of New Orleans and Shaun Hartley of Waterproof; three daughters, Carolyn Ford and husband, Joe, of Monroe, La., Regina Hartley and Leshaun Green and husband, Lee, all of Natchez; five brothers, Vecy Bates Jr. of New Orleans, Dennis Bates and wife, Jimmie, of Gonzales, La., John L. Bates, Charles Bates and Eugene Bates, all of St. Joseph; six sisters, Bobbie Bates and Brenda Bates, both of Baton Rouge, Cassandra Lang and husband, Desmond, of Gonzales, Juanita Washington and husband, John, of Atlanta, Diane Bates of Cypress, Texas and Katy Mae Bates and Willie Carter of Newellton; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three aunts; and four uncles.
