NATCHEZ — Services for John Francis D’Antoni Jr., 87, of Natchez, who died Monday, April 1, 2013, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at noon today at Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. D’Antoni was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Natchez, the son of John Francis D’Antoni Sr. and Genevieve Pantoliano D’Antoni. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945.
Mr. D’Antoni graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1949. He was a Gulf Oil distributor from 1953 to 1995.
Mr. D’Antoni was a member of the Natchez Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, the AM Society of Mechanical Engineers, Registered Professional Engineers of the State of Mississippi, former director of the Natchez Chamber of Commerce, former Mississippi State chairman of the Notre Dame Foundation, past president of Cathedral School Board and the State Catholic School Board. He was also a former board member of St. Mary’s Orphanage.
Mr. D’Antoni was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and a past director of Natchez First Federal Savings and Loan Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Rose Gross; and one brother, Paul A. D’Antoni.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne D’Antoni; one son, Martin Edward D’Antoni of Natchez; one daughter, Elizabeth D’Antoni Porter and husband, Matthew, of Acworth, Ga.; two grandchildren, Paige Porter and John Matthew Porter, both of Acworth; and one brother, Joseph C. D’Antoni of Louisville, Ky.
Pallbearers will be members of Knight of Columbus.
