NATCHEZ — A Natchez man drove into the bottom floor of the Natchez Pediatric Clinic Thursday while reportedly having a seizure.

Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said Kevin Simmons, 49, 122 Magnolia Acres Road, was driving on Jefferson Davis Boulevard when he crossed over the road, jumped the curb into the clinic’s parking lot and crashed into the clinic.

No one inside the building was injured, Ford said, but Simmons was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Ford said Simmons suffered abrasions on his arms and was bleeding from the mouth at the scene.

A dog that was in the vehicle with Simmons was uninjured in the crash.

Jennifer Lessley, a nurse practitioner at the clinic, said the entire building shook when the car hit it.

“It felt like an earthquake,” she said, “We didn’t know what happened until we walked outside and saw it.”

The clinic closed after the wreck so repairs could be made to the water and sewer line but will be open today, Lessley said.
