Alexandria, LA. — A Vidalia man pleaded guilty Friday to charges of knowingly receiving child pornography in U.S. District Court.
John Casey Young, 45, entered the plea before Judge Dee Drell.
Young is the funeral director at Young’s Funeral Home.
A news release from the U.S. Department of Justice says investigators with the Federal Bureau of Investigation discovered Young had used a work computer to search the Internet for child pornography.
The release states that the discovery of the pornographic material was made when Young was being investigated for a separate but related matter in September 2011.
Young was arrested and later indicted on six counts of production or attempted production of child pornography in September 2011. He pleaded “not guilty” to those charges a month later.
Court documents filed at the time alleged Young’s wife discovered a video image depicting an undressed minor getting out of a shower on his hard drive.
Court documents state that the video appeared to have been recorded without the knowledge of the minor from outside a bathroom window, and depicts frontal nudity of the minor.
Court records about Friday’s hearing were not available Friday evening.
Young will be sentenced June 10. He faces 20 years in prison, five years supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
