NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Codie Viola Thornhill, 103, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. today at Harris Cemetery in Crowville, La.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thornhill lived a number of years near Crowville. She was a devoted helpmate to her husband during a number of years of operating their farm and home. She spent her last years in Natchez to be near her family.

Mrs. Thornhill was preceded in death by her parents, John and Syphronia Viola; her husband, Joseph Francis Thornhill; one infant son, Joseph Francis Thornhill Jr.; one daughter, Doris Kemp; and two grandsons, Michael Anthony McGraw and Matthew Ryan Buttross.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Iles of Natchez and Irma McGraw and husband, J.D. McGraw, of Tampa; one son, John Thornhill and wife, Ann, of West Monroe, La.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers.

Pallbearers will be Martin, Doug and Colin Kemp, Joe and Jim Thornhill, Geoff, Michael and Mark Iles.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Thornhill, Greg Iles, Linda Moore, Melanie Stowers and Michelle Rizzo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
