NATCHEZ — Services for Rass Smith, 87, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerome Bourne officiating.
Burial will follow at the New Pine Hill Cemetery near Sicily Island under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Clayton, the son of Leonard W. Smith and Eula Allen Smith. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy and then reenlisted in the U.S. Army for a second tour.
Mr. Smith was a member of the River City Pentecostals of Natchez.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Ryan Lee Johnese.
Survivors include his wife, Louise R. Smith; two daughters, Renee Smith Blount and husband, Charles, of Hammond, La., and Rasty Parker and husband, Gene, of Natchez; two grandchildren, Brandon Blount of Hammond and Chesney Davis of Larchmont, N.Y.; and two great-grandchildren, Braden Davis and Emma Blount.
Pallbearers will be Charles Blount, Brandon Blount, Vance Dunn, Jerry Sweat, Ricky Cain and Ronnie McNemar.
