WILDSVILLE, La. — Services for James Willard Myers, who died Monday, March 4, 2013, at LaSalle General Hospital in Jena, La., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Evangeline Baptist Church in Wildsville with the Rev. Dennis Baker and Frankie Lawrence officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military honors under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Myers was born in Bogalusa, La., the son of Clarence Carol and Lena Self Myers. He was a member of Evangeline Baptist Church and was loved by all who met him. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt with his friends. He will surely be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Wanda Myers; and two sisters, Wilma Myers and Jackie Bishop.
Survivors include his loving wife, Avis Butts Myers; three sons, James Keith Myers and Robert Carol Myers, both of Ventress, La., and Jay Forrest of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Diane Adams and Karren Atchison, both of Baton Rouge; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Shirley, Chris Powell, Davey Evans, Jay Forrest, Timmy Williams, Charlie Powell and Glen Butts Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hank Spann and the deacons of Evangeline Baptist Church.
