LORMAN — Services for Gerald D. Smith Sr., 82, of Lorman, who died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Esphesus Primitive Baptist Church in Lorman with the Rev. W.C. Hatten officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Smith was born Oct. 10, 1930, in New Orleans, the son of Prentiss and Merle J. Goza Smith. He was a retired electrician.
Mr. Smith served as a deacon at Esphesus Primitive Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Magnolia Ramblers Camping Club and IBEW Local Union of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Anna Marie Foster Smith; his parents; and one brother, Floyd Smith.
Survivors include one son, Gerald D. Smith and his friend, Jeanette Killingsworth, both of Port Gibson; one daughter, Pamela Bolerjack and husband, David, of Berryville, Ark.; two grandsons, Derck Sheridan and wife, Leah, of Athens, Ga., and Timothy Bolerjack and his friend, Jennifer Matthew, of Berryville; one step-great-grandchild, Kainean Matthew of Berryville; three sisters-in-law, Kathleen Harriston and Jennifer Polk, both of Natchez, and Betty Foster of Port Gibson; special family friends, Martha Coleman and Bennie Nichols, both of Lorman; a number of nieces, nephews, and friends; and his favorite pet, Molly.
Pallbearers will be Howard Goza, Terry Goza, Preston Foster, Beni Foster, Timothy Bolerjack and Derck Sheridan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rayford Smith, Johnny H. Smith Sr., Joseph Foster and the Magnolia Ramblers.
The family extends special thanks to Hospice of St. Joseph.
