VIDALIA — Services for Willard S. Mohon, 84, who died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., following a brief illness, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Ron Ledford officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mr. Mohon was born Aug. 2, 1928, the son of Charles S. and Eunice Cupit Mohon. He was a native and lifelong resident of Vidalia.

Mr. Mohon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was retired from the Concordia Parish School Board and the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office. His passion in life was his witness for the Lord whenever he was given the opportunity and always laughing and playing jokes on his friends and family which he held so close to his heart. He was a devoted husband and father and loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass and gospel music and loved to go coon hunting.

Mr. Mohon was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Gena Mae Mohon; and three sisters, Gena Minton, Ruby H. Tryals and Ada Anders.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Mize Mohon; three sons, Neil Mohon and wife, Margaret, Guy Long and Matt Long, all of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Jason Mohon of Yelm, Wash., Kathy Bryant and husband, Harvey, of Vidalia, Elizabeth Free of Natchez, Matthew Long Jr. and Mason Long, both of Vidalia; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Davis, George Rand, James Smith, Harvey Bryant II, Jimmy Watts and John Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearers will be “The Senior Saints.”
