VIDALIA — Services for Patrick Matthew McGivaren, 39, of Vidalia, who lost his courageous battle with cancer Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Vidalia with the Rev. Bill McCullin officiating and Trae James will deliver the eulogy.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Vidalia.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Matt was born June 12, 1973, in Lake Charles, La., the son of Timothy G. McGivaren and Edith Russ McGivaren. He worked in the oil and gas industry and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Vidalia.
Matt was easy going, unhurried and relaxed which made him easy to love. He was compassionate, kind, laid-back, observant and always smiling. There was never a dull moment when you were around him. He was forever carrying on and doing what made him unique and that was making everyone feel loved and accepted.
Matt loved his family. Wherever you saw him, whether at the area ballparks, church, home or just happen to run into him in a store, chances are he would be with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer James McGivaren; three sons, Landry, Drew and Cole McGivaren, all of Vidalia; his father and stepmother, Charlene, of Natchez; one brother, Chris McGivaren and wife, Dana, of Prairieville, La.; father and mother-in-law, Eddie and Liz James of Natchez; brother-in-law, Trae James of Natchez; and four nieces and nephews, Peyton and Rachel McGivaren and Kelsey and Kamryn James.
Pallbearers will be Landry McGivaren, Chris McGivaren, Peyton McGivaren, Trae James, Daniel Boyd and Jamie Keating.
