FERRIDAY — A Ferriday woman is behind bars after she allegedly cut and stabbed another woman with a kitchen knife in the middle of Georgia Avenue.
Lakeidra Ann Turner, 31, 204 Georgia Ave., was charged Thursday with attempted second-degree murder.
Ferriday Police Chief Richard Madison said officers responded to a call at 5 p.m. Wednesday of a disturbance on Georgia Avenue.
During the course of the investigation, Madison said, officers found that Turner had gotten into an altercation with another woman, with whom she was friends.
After the altercation escalated and both women began assaulting each other, Madison said, Turner retrieved a white-handled kitchen knife from her house and cut the victim on both arms and back.
The victim was transported to Riverland Medical Center where she was treated for her wounds.
Once officers questioned the victim in the hospital, Madison said Turner was arrested and charged.
No bond had been set for Turner as of Thursday evening.
Madison said the case is still under investigation.
