FERRIDAY — Services for Joseph Scott, 64, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at noon Wednesday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie Schiele and the Rev. Justin Conner officiating.
Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Scott was born Feb. 10, 1948, in Ferriday, the son of Mack and Laura Scott. He worked for Jim Jones Sawmill for a number of years until it closed. He was known for helping others in the community by doing yard work or any job that he was asked to do.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Laura Bell Green; one brother, Sam Jackson; and one nephew, Jackie Ray.
Survivors include three nephews, Lionel Green, Lionel Fontenot and Blake Green, all of Texas; one niece, LaHoma Hall of Beaumont, Texas; special cousins, Julie “Geneva” Leonard and husband, A.C., of Ferriday and Bernice Robertson and husband, Robert, of Baton Rouge; two aunts, Gene Green and Alma Green of Galveston, Texas; special caregivers, LaDonnie Bowman, Erika Bowman and Eloise Foster, all of Ferriday; three loving nephews, Ricky Clark, Derrick Clark and Marcus Clark, all of Ferriday; a special friend, Alice Carter; and a number of cousins, other relatives and special friends at the Ferriday Haven Apartments.
The family extends their gratitude to the Mercy Seat Baptist Church family, Camelot Leisure Living staff, Riverland Medical Center, Natchez Community Hospital, Camellia Hospice staff, Dr. Givens and Dr. Wright for support in his final days.
