Come celebrate your valentine at gala
Published 12:02 am Sunday, February 10, 2013
The Natchez Festival of Music Guild invites you to celebrate a romantic evening with your valentine at a fabulous valentine gala in The Bailey House at 400 S. Commerce St., built in 1897 for an exceptional civic leader in Natchez, Adolph Jacobs, and recognized as one of the grandest examples in Mississippi of Colonial Revival architecture. It is now the lovely home of Dr. Jack and Linda Rodriguez and their family.
Relish the evening filled with love, romance and the gorgeous music of Lynn Beach Smith, vocalist, and Sam Bruton, pianist, two extremely talented and versatile artists who will make your heart sing!
Sam, who specializes in jazz, has played with people such as Delfeayo Marsalis, Don Rickles and Regis Philbin and plays regularly with Larry Panella, John Wooton and Kaiso! and Eugene Eash.
Lynn has an incredible repertoire of music of every variety, from opera to musical theater, recitals and jazz. Her jazz voice has been described as Diana Krall meets Ella Fitzgerald and as “Candy for your ears.” What a great evening of music is in store for every taste!
Learn the beautiful story behind the fantastic stained glass windows, created and signed by Von Gerichten Company, Art Glass Studio and based on a painting known as “The Swing” by Manjit Mehndiratta, which is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
It was inspired by a French novel written in 1788, “Paul et Virginie,” and depicts the young, innocent love of these two people who were raised on an isolated tropical island paradise by their mothers with only one another as companions.
Feast on elegant hors-d’oeuvres and sweets and enjoy the great selections of beverages at the cash bar.
Join in the excitement of the live auction of wonderful luxury items and vacation spots, such as a villa in Italy, with Barry Maxwell as the auctioneer.
This annual gala has been outstanding every year; and this year’s party will be fun, beautiful and beyond exceptional!
This party has it all — a gorgeous venue, fabulous music, great food and drink, exciting live auction, lots of friends. Come swing with the music of love from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14.
Tickets are limited and are $50 per person or $95 for two.
