NATCHEZ — Services for Dan Jackson Jr., 88, of Natchez, who died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at his residence, will be at noon Saturday at Second Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Jackson was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Church Hill, the son of Dan Jackson Sr. and Laura J. Ware Jackson. He worked at Ben Buckles Hardwood Mill and Fife’s Oil Field. He was retired.
Mr. Jackson was a member of LF&C Society.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; two daughters, Velma and Bridgette Jackson; and one sister, Janie B. Jefferson.
Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Murray, Laura Thomas and husband, Waddell, Carlotta Jackson, all of Natchez, and Myrtis Jackson of Ruston, La.; three sons, Nathaniel Murray and wife, Lorietta, Charles Jackson and wife, Ella, and Jerome Jackson, all of Natchez; one brother, Emmett Payne of Detroit; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Lamont Jefferson, Leroy Jefferson Jr., Terry Jefferson, Oscar Porter and friends of the family.
