AMITE CITY, La. — Lester Wells paced the Adams County Christian School boys soccer team with another hat trick in the Rebels’ 4-1 against Oak Forest Academy Wednesday.
Wells scored two goals in the first half and one in the second as the Rebels improved to 15-4-1 on the season.
“The whole squad played fantastic, but coming down the home stretch, our go-to guy is Lester Wells simply because of the number of goals he has,” ACCS head coach Jimmy Allgood said.
Oak Forest scored in the third minute of play to take an early 1-0 lead, but ACCS tied it after Wells scored his first goal on a header off of Justin Allgood’s throw-in in the 17th minute.
Hunter Lindsey added a goal for ACCS in the 26th minute off a corner kick by Dylan Galbreath. Wells scored again on a shot from just inside the box in the 35th minute, giving ACCS a 3-1 halftime lead.
“We woke up in about the 12th minute and found ourselves in a soccer match down 1-0,” Jimmy said. “All of a sudden, they decided to play aggressive, and it was off to the races.”
Wells scored his final goal in the 62nd minute.
“We had some great passing and trapping in this game,” Jimmy said. “Austin Walker had some nice Cinderella bicycle kicks to set up Lester on two of his goals.”
The Rebels will play at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Hunt Academy.
