FERRIDAY — Services for Fred Harvey Andrews, 87, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, in Jonesville, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. James King officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Jena, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Andrews was born April 13, 1925, in Jonesville, the son of Fred and Rosa Andrews. He was retired from Union Pacific Railroad and was a member of Hill Memorial Baptist Church.
Mr. Andrews proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Chapman Andrews; one son, Fred H. Andrews Jr.; one son-in-law, Terry Grant; his parents; three sisters, Melba Jamison, Alpha Turnage and Rosemary Pepper; and one brother, James R. Andrews.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Andrews Grant of Ferriday and Alice “Cookey” Johnson and husband, Nathan, of Ruth; one son, Keith Andrews and wife, Kaye, of Ferriday; one daughter-in-law, Vickie Andrews of Coco, Fla.; one sister, Faye Andrews Holley Frith; 11 grandchildren, Penelope Besvold and husband, Eric, Jennifer Middleton and husband, Leigh, Lande Johnson and wife, Brandie, Jamie Hargis and husband, Robbie, Abbey Segrest and husband, Robert, Jordan Johnson and wife, Lindsay, Nick Andrews and wife, Jessalyn, Natasha Petrie and husband, Joe, Leah Johnson, Erin Johnson and Sarah Johnson; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lande Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Nick Andrews, Robbie Hargis, Leigh Middleton and Robert Segrest.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Huey Moak and his caregivers, Alethea Fisher and Sabrina Davis.
