NATCHEZ — Services for Joseph Henry Davis III, 75, of Mountain View, Ark., formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Calico Rock Hospital in Calico, Ark., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Hardy and the Rev. Paul Mize officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Davis was born July 21, 1937, in Adams County, the son of Joseph Henry Sessions Davis and Alma Leola Blair Davis. He served in the U.S. Navy as a medical corpsman and had worked for 15 years as a surgical nurse and an assistant administrator at Jefferson County Hospital.
Mr. Davis also worked at Glenburney and Adams County Nursing Homes. He was devoted to nursing the elderly, his wife and family.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Ethel Huff Couillard and Ben Gilbert Couillard.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Sanders Davis; two sons, William Archie Harrigill and Stewart Joseph Harrigill; two grandsons, Stewart Joseph Harrigill and William Cody Harrigill; one brother, William Fredrick Davis Sr.; and two nephews, William Fredrick Davis Jr. and Thomas Blake Davis.
Pallbearers will be Hilton Sullivan, W.F. Davis Jr., T.B. Davis, E.G. Thompson, Carl Sanders and Harper Sanders.
