DOLOROSO — Services for Aaron A. Barnes, 85, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Free Spring Missionary Baptist Church in Doloroso with the Rev. George Noflin Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Barnes was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Wilkinson County, the son of Seneca and Mariah Barnes. He attended Adams County and Wilkinson County schools. He was a member of Free Spring Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Natchez Business and Civic League.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Cathlean Evans, Annie Bell Harden and Fammie Bailey; and two brothers, Wyatt Barnes and Dell Barnes.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth D. Barnes; one son, Elvin L. Barnes; two daughters, Bobbie Cain and Patricia Harris; two grandsons, Marvin Martin and wife, Victoria, and Derex Cain; one granddaughter, Verna P. Harris; four great-grandsons, Tylan Murray, Marvin Martin Jr., Justin Martin and Jaydon Martin; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
