PORT GIBSON — Services for Geneva Collins, 90, of Port Gibson, who died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at River Region Hospital in Vicksburg, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Port Gibson.
Burial will follow at East Mount Olive Cemetery in Red Lick under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until service time Sunday, both at the church.
Mrs. Collins was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Ed T. Smith and Hattie Combs Smith. She was a retired educator and a member of the NCNW and the N.A.A.C.P.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alexander Collins; one son, Willie Roy Collins; two sisters, Lillie Nichols and Mary Watts; and three brothers, Willie Smith, Virgil Brothers and Albert Smith.
Survivors include a loving and devoted daughter, Dr. JoAnn Collins-Smith; two grandchildren, Eddwin Alexander Smith and Geraline Smith; one great-granddaughter, Embree Gwendolyn Smith; one sister, Zeder Smith Quinn-Lee; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
