FERRIDAY — Services for Ralph Vernon Martin Sr., 85, of Vidalia, who died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Ron Ledford and the Rev. Jamie McCartney officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Martin was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Fort Necessity, La., the son of Edward Rufus Martin and Alice Phenia Martin. He was self-employed and attended the Evangel Temple Assembly of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Etta Mae Swilley, Bessie Lincecum, Geneva Tarver, Ruby Graves, Cressie Lea Berry and Irene Sanders; and five brothers, Clifford Martin, Ben Martin, Luke Martin, Tom Martin and Willie Green.
Survivors include his wife, Maudine Martin; three sons, Ronnie Gene Martin and wife, Sylvia, Ralph Martin Jr., all of Vidalia, and Dale Martin and wife, Tam, of Rayville, La.; one daughter, Liz Martin Anderson of Bastrop, La.; one stepdaughter, Julie Gillian and husband, Hugh; two stepsons, Bobby Morris of Ferriday and Doyle Morris of Vidalia; one sister, Merlee Dale of Denham Springs, La.; one brother, Nub Martin of Ferriday; 20 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Dale, Wayne Turver, Shane Martin, Dustin Martin, Will Martin, Curtis Martin, Jackie Martin and Christian Martin.
