Natchez Christmas parade to roll Dec. 1

Published 12:00 am Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Christmas has officially begun.

The streets are filled with magnificent, twinkling lights. Our merchants are ready; our churches are filled with the sounds of the season; and our Christmas committee has fabulous activities for everyone in the family to enjoy.

One of the highlights of the Christmas season is the annual downtown parade. There is nothing like watching faces of all ages line the streets coming together as one and celebrate a joyous occasion.

This year the annual parade will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

Gather your friends, family, church groups or civic organizations to put together a float and celebrate the season as you coast through historic downtown Natchez.

It is always amazing to see the talents and ideas that you all come up with each year. There is not a specific theme for this year so just come up with a neat idea for your float.

Marching bands and school groups are welcome as well.

After-parade fireworks will be begin at the bluff at 8 p.m. We are excited to once again have Pyrotecnico produce a colorful professional production!

We sincerely thank our sponsors for making this possible each year.

Also a complete calendar of events for the holiday season is available at christmasinnatchez.com or visitnatchez.org. There are activities for all ages to enjoy.

For more information and an application for the Christmas parade, contact the Natchez Chamber of Commerce at 601-445-4611, First Natchez Radio Group at 601-442-4895 or go download the form at Christmas parade application.

We certainly hope that you all will join this year’s parade. Merry Christmas!
