NATCHEZ — A rash of burglaries has prompted extra police patrols in the downtown Natchez area.
Natchez Police Department Detective Jerry Ford said the department currently has no suspects in four burglaries which occurred the past couple of weeks but DNA has been collected from two scenes.
A computer and a monitor were stolen from an office on Clifton Avenue. The office was broken into Tuesday night and again Wednesday night. Blood was collected from the office where the suspect had broken glass to enter the office. Blood was also collected from another burglary on North Wall Street.
Other burglaries have been reported in the Union Street area. Attempted burglars also vandalized the offices of the Historic Natchez Foundation last weekend.
Ford said it is difficult to tell if the burglaries are related, but he said the DNA results should give police a suspect.
Anyone with any information about the burglaries should call NPD at 601-445-5565 or Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
Crime Stoppers offers a reward up to $1,000 for the arrest and conviction of a suspect because of a tip. Callers can remain anonymous.
