My father, Ernest Joe Carroll, a Natchez native, died there several years ago. Recently, I stumbled upon a Bible which had been in Dad’s possession.

How this came to be is a mystery, as inside the cover of the Bible it reads, “Presented to: Mable Rose Shields, from Audrey Mazyck Shields, Christmas 1949.”

If this were a Bible belonging to a member of my family, I would love to have it as a keepsake.

Maybe some member of the Mazyck/Shields family has the same sentiment. I will happily mail the Bible to a member of the family.

The Bible is very well worn. Obviously the owner was on good terms with God.
