VIDALIA — Two Vidalia women were arrested this weekend after narcotics agents found them smoking methamphetamine in the presence of two minors.
Concordia Narcotics Task Force agent Lt. Greg Jackson said he and other deputies went to a North Grove Road house Friday at approximately 11 a.m. with an arrest warrant in reference to alleged drug activity in the presence of minors.
The warrant was issued for the arrest of April Latham McEntyre, 32, 115 N. Grove Road.
Jackson said when agents arrived at the house they found McEntyre and Danielle A. Stampley, 33, with suspected methamphetamine in a back room.
“The kids, a 16-year-old and a 5-year-old, were running free while drugs were being used in the house,” Jackson said. “After they consented to a search of the house, we found more suspected methamphetamine, a meth pipe and a quantity of Xanax with no prescription.”
McEntyre was booked on charges of possession of schedule IV controlled substance with intent, possession of paraphernalia, two counts of possession of schedule II controlled substance (meth and Adderall) and improper supervision of a minor.
Stampley, 419 Ash St., was booked on bench warrant for failure to pay judiciary probation fees for careless operation, probation hold violation and charges of possession of schedule IV controlled substance with intent, possession of paraphernalia, two counts of possession of schedule II controlled substance (meth and Adderall) and improper supervision of a minor.
Jackson said the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services were called to take custody of the two children.
No bond was set for McEntyre or Stampley as of Monday afternoon.
