NATCHEZ — The accounting firm of Silas Simmons, LLP is announced recently that Torrey R. Groce has joined its professional staff.

Groce earned his associates of arts degree from Copiah-Lincoln Community College in 2004 and his bachelor of science in accounting degree from Alcorn State University in 2010. While at Alcorn, Groce was an intern for Silas Simmons, LLP for three tax seasons. He was previously employed by the Natchez Fire Department as a firefighter, and he also served two tours in Iraq with the USMC.

Groce, a native of Natchez, graduated from Natchez High School in 2001, where he played football and was a member of the powerlifting team. He is a member of Word of Faith Ambassadors Worship Center, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and L.R. Paige Masonic Lodge No. 20. He now volunteers as a football coach for the Natchez Falcons Youth Football Club.

Groce is the son of the late Ruth Washington and Tyrone Groce of Columbus, Ga. He is married to Cresa Merritt-Groce, and they have a daughter, Amaya Jayde Groce.
