NATCHEZ — Approximately 3,000 Adams County residents are still without power following Tropical Storm Isaac.
Approximately 1,000 Entergy customers in the Natchez area are still without power as of 11:30 a.m.
Entergy Spokesman Tim Runnels said one of the biggest outages was in the Montebello area, and that the company has several smaller outages to contend with as well.
Additional Entergy crews are coming into the area to help with the remaining outages, Runnels said.
“By later afternoon we should start to see some good results as we have some additional crews,” Runnels said.
Entergy suffered a setback in restoring power from Meadville to Roxie after a cross arm holding a transmission line broke. Runnels said he did not know if the break was due to previous damage or was caused by something Friday morning. The break affected more than 1,000 people in the Meadville area, including a hospital and nursing home, he said.
The Entergy Storm Center website says those in Wilkinson County who are able to receive electricity should have their power restored by Monday.
As of 6 a.m. Friday, 2,000 Southwest Mississippi Electric Power Association customers in Adams County were still without power, Spokeswoman Azalea Knight said, though she also said that number has fallen since then.
A total of 11,000 Southwest customers are without power across its nine-county system, she said.
