JACKSON – The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) alerts motorists of the following roadway closure in Franklin County regarding Tropical Storm Isaac.

Due to Tropical Storm Isaac, Highway 556 is closed between U.S. 98 and Highway 184. A tree has fallen and is blocking the roadway also knocking down power lines across the highway. It could take approximately nine hours for the road to be cleared.

Motorists are advised to take an alternate route until the roadway is cleared. MDOT regrets any inconveniences or delays this closure may cause.
