Community Orthopedic adds nurse practitioner

NATCHEZ — LaWanda Baskin, MSN, FNP-C, has joined the staff of Community Orthopedic Clinic located at 150 Jeff Davis Blvd., Suite 100 in Natchez.
Baskin will be assisting Dr. Jeffrey Traina and Dr. Fred M. Sandifer III in treating patients at the clinic. She will also assist Traina as he performs orthopedic surgery at Natchez Community Hospital.
Baskin, a resident of Natchez, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner.
She earned a master’s degree with highest distinction in nursing from Alcorn State University and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi. Since 2006, she has received experience in family medicine, surgery, emergency medicine and critical care as a registered nurse at Natchez Community Hospital.
Previously, she worked at University of Mississippi Medical Center in both the surgery department and Batson Children’s Hospital, as well as North Mississippi Medical Center. Prior to returning to Natchez, she was the occupational health nurse manager at Tyson Foods.
Baskin was recently inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. She is a member of the Eliza Pillars Professional Nursing Organization, American Nurses Association and Mississippi Nurses Association.
