Cynthia R. Bates of Natchez announces the engagement of her daughter, Dawndrice Monique Abraham to Byron Bernard Brooks, son of Benard and Ernestine Selmon of Roxie. The bride-to-be is also the daughter of Timothy Abraham of Santee, S.C.

She is a graduate of Natchez High School and a graduate of Virginia College in Birmingham, Ala. She is employed by Adams County Nursing Center in Natchez. She is the granddaughter of the late Elijah and Pearlina Bates of Natchez and the late Lucky Abraham and Lurine Abraham of Vance, S.C.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Franklin County High School in Meadville.

He is the grandson of the late Harry and Bernice Brooks of Roxie.

The wedding will be at 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at at Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ in Natchez.

A reception will follow at the Broadmoor Community Center.
