5 qualify for parish elections

VIDALIA — Five Concordia Parish residents qualified Wednesday for several elections that will be on the Nov. 6 ballot.
The Concordia Parish Clerk of Court’s office will register candidates through Friday.
Concordia Parish School Board district seats 4B and 5A are open for qualification.
Warren Enterkin, who currently serves as the interim member for the district 5A seat, qualified for the same seat.
No one had qualified for district 4, place B as of Wednesday.
All five seats on the Ferriday Board of Aldermen are open for qualifying, after candidates were halted from qualifying for the spring ballot because the town failed to submit its redistricting plan in time for U.S. Department of Justice approval.
Robert Allen qualified for the district A seat and alderman Johnnie Brown qualified for district D seat.
The seat of mayor and one alderman position are open for qualification in Ridgecrest, but no one had qualified for those seats as of Wednesday.
Justice of the Peace positions in District 1 and District 5B are open for qualification.
Benja Fussell qualified for the district 1 seat and Tim Charrier qualified for the district 5B seat.
Chief Deputy Clerk of Court Becky Zerby said fees for qualifying vary on each position, but that they must be paid in cash, money order or cashier check.
The Clerk of Court’s office, located in the Concordia Parish courthouse, will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
