VIDALIA — Concordia Parish Fire District No. 2 fought a fully engulfed house fire on Hammett Addition Circle into the late hours of the night Thursday, after an old grocery store and house caught fire.
Lt. Mark White said the cause of the fire is still unknown, and that his crews fought the fire for several hours to ensure it didn’t spread to nearby structures.
“There was fire everywhere, so we had to work to control it and stop it from spreading,” White said.
One of those buildings was the former Murray’s Grocery, which had been closed for nearly 15 years.
Both buildings were abandoned, and no injuries were reported from the incident, White said.
Firefighters left the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m.
