Jonesboro, La. — The Vidalia 7- and 8-year-old All-Stars came back from a 13-0 deficit but were unable to take the lead, falling to Evangeline 25-23 in the ages 7 and 8 state tournament Wednesday.

Vidalia was down 13-0 before the team even batted, but head coach Mike Bowlin said he was very proud of his players despite the loss.

“They fought back and made it 25-23, and they had the tying run on with the last batter up,” Bowlin said. “I’ve never been more proud of my team. They never quit.”

The loss ended Vidalia’s season.
