Allen announces positions

FERRIDAY — Ferriday mayor-elect Gene Allen will submit his appointments for town offices and departments to the board of aldermen for approval on his first day in office.
Allen’s appointments include Herman Smith for fire chief, Richard Madison for police chief, Tamika Hines for town clerk, Myisha Davis for town attorney, Larry Gordon for streets and sanitation and William McKeel for contractor and wastewater treatment.
Madison served as Ferriday police chief during Allen’s last administration.
Smith also served as Ferriday fire chief during Allen’s last administration.
Allen said he spent a considerable amount of time speaking to board members and other officials regarding his appointments.
“All these jobs are a big commitment that I take seriously,” Allen said.
Allen also announced his inauguration as mayor to be scheduled at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Haney’s Big House Music Hall on First Street.
The board will have a special meeting Monday, July 2, to approve or deny the appointments.
