Man falls 30 feet from deer stand in Clayton

CLAYTON — A number of local law enforcement agencies responded Sunday evening to a scene where a man reportedly fell out of a deer stand from a distance of approximately 30 feet.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Capt. David Hedrick said the stand was located north of Clayton in a tree span of a wooded area off of Louisiana 65, past Indian Village Road.
Hedrick said the injured man, who was in his 30s sustained injuries of a broken leg and possible internal bleed-ing. He was transported to Riverland Medical Center and would be flown by helicopter to an Alexandria hospital, Hedrick said. He said the victim’s family did not want to release his name.
Responding to the scene were CPSO deputies, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents, Metro Ambulance crews and an area fire department.
A 911 call was made at 6:38 p.m., Hedrick said.
