FERRIDAY — Through a joint investigation by the Concordia Parish Narcotics Task Force and the U.S. Marshals, 14 drug-related arrests were made Tuesday and Wednesday in the Ferriday area.
Both agencies had been investigating complaints in reference to illegal drug activity in Ferriday for several weeks, Concordia Parish Capt. David Hedrick said.
The arrests included four felony and 10 misdemeanor charges and a quantity of crack, marijuana and hydrocodone taken off the streets, Hedrick said.
“This is just one phase of an ongoing operation through the next four years to combating illegal drugs,” Hedrick said. “We’re not going to stop until we get all of the drugs off the streets.”
In March, the two agencies, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Alexandria and Monroe, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Louisiana State Police Department and Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, made 30 drug-related arrests in culmination of a yearlong joint investigation titled “Delta Blues.”
The investigation targeted narcotics sales and neighborhood gang activity in the Ferriday area.
Apart from the 30 state and federal arrests made, the investigation led to the seizure of 8 ounces of crack cocaine, a half kilo of powdered cocaine, 20 pounds of marijuana, firearms, currency and three vehicles.
The most recent arrests also included some that stemmed from the “Delta Blues” investigation, Hedrick said.
