VIDALIA — A Vidalia man was arrested late Thursday night after he attempted to spit on a police officer and became “loud and obnoxious.”
Greatery D. Dotson, 31, 606 N. Spruce St., was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and attempted simple assault on a police officer.
Vidalia Police Assistant Chief Bruce Wiley said officers arrived at Dotson’s mother’s house on Spruce Street at 11:07 p.m. to file a separate complaint.
Dotson arrived shortly after and began cursing and yelling at the officers, demanding they leave, Wiley said.
“When the officers tried to call him down, because he was disturbing the peace by yelling on the front porch, he attempted to spit on one of the officers,” Wiley said. “There was no fighting, but he didn’t want to go peacefully.”
Officers were finally able to handcuff Dotson and transport him to the police department.
Dotson was transferred to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office and was issued a $750 bond.
