NATCHEZ — The top candidate for the new superintendent of the Natchez-Adams School District has apparently accepted the job, NASD school board President Wayne Barnett said Tuesday.
Barnett said the board would publically announce the name of the man who will have the district’s top administrative spot at a specially called board meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Barnett would not publically disclose details about the new superintendent, other than to say the board hired outside of the NASD pool, and the candidate most recently served as an assistant superintendent in another school district. Barnett said the new hire planned to give notice to his current school district Tuesday night.
The new superintendent will take the helm of the district starting July 1, when Interim Superintendent Joyce Johnson’s contract expires and also in the midst of a major reorganization of the elementary and middle schools.
