Natchez Festival of Music has invited Natchez Downtown Development Association to join with them in planning an extra special May 12 Second Saturday.
Events at Memorial Park will begin at 1 p.m.
Artists will set up throughout the park with original paintings, photographs, crochet work, pottery, etc.
This is an excellent opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind gifts for Mother’s Day — the following day. At 3 p.m., Burnley Cook will present a calliope demonstration and concert.
You will have an opportunity to learn about the mechanics and historical significance of the calliope.
At 5:30 p.m. you are invited to “social hour” at participating downtown merchant locations.
Meet friends, sip a glass of wine, and enjoy an assortment of appetizers before traveling to Margaret Martin Performing Arts Center for the 7 p.m. performance of “The Mikado” by Gilbert and Sullivan.
This is a great opportunity to escape the doldrums of an ordinary Saturday afternoon and evening.
You will experience culture, fun, music, and food without leaving home. All you have to do is to come to beautiful, historic, downtown Natchez!
Yvonne Murray is an organizer of the Natchez Downtown Development Association’s Second Saturday.
