VIDALIA — Concordia Parish residents will brave possible adverse weather conditions Saturday to hit the polls and cast their ballots in five run off elections and one property tax renewal.

Voters will elect a mayor in Ferriday, an alderman in Vidalia and three parish police jurors.

They will also decide whether to renew a 10-year, 25-mill school board property tax.

The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., and voters need a valid picture identification to cast their ballot.

A total of 506 early votes — 390 in person and 116 by mail — were counted as of 3 p.m. Friday, said Registrar of Voters Golda Ensminger.

The deadline for mail ballots was Friday and military ballots can be counted through today.

A total of 13,792 voters are eligible to cast ballots.

A primary for Ferriday aldermen elections will be Nov. 6 with a general election on Dec. 1. The aldermen elections, scheduled for today, were delayed when the town did not get it’s redistricting plan approved in time.
