Come swing with the music Thursday
Published 12:02 am Sunday, April 8, 2012
Come listen to the cabaret of familiar medleys as performed by Lisa Spann and Rod Payne on piano at the Concordia Bank Lobby in Vidalia at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12.
This will be an entertaining and swinging evening with two great musicians performing such hits as “At Last,” “Over the Rainbow,” “Midnight Train,” “Something’s Got a Hold,” and “His Eye Is On the Sparrow.”
Lisa’s unique and powerful voice stands out in the crowd. Lisa is the featured performer for Rod Payne at The Brandy House in Monroe, La. She released a CD “It’s About Time” in 2011. Lisa had the honor of singing with Louisiana’s Doug Duffey at the 2003 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and on his later recordings. Lisa was a featured performer for several years with another Louisiana Legend, GG Shinn. Lisa is proud to be a native among great Louisiana artists. She had the opportunity to travel our country and beyond as a Navy brat, but she has deep roots in the South.
Rod Payne is without question, this area’s most visible musician. His command of many different styles of music has kept him busy at the piano and keyboard for more than 30 years. He has performed at hundreds of corporate events, wedding receptions, dances and society affairs. In addition to performing, Rod has written numerous jingles and theme songs. He says playing with outstanding musicians and singers like Lisa McCalmon, Adam Jones, Mary Griffin and many others keep music fresh and challenging. He is a returning performer this year!
