Cook, Parker, Shirley, Tiffee, Beatty win; others in runoffs

VIDALIA — Four incumbents have won re-election in Concordia Parish police jury races, while the other four will face runoffs.
Incumbent Carey Cook defeated Marcus Martin with 68.7 percent of the vote.
Incumbent Joe Parker defeated Steve Gray with 36.02 percent of the vote.
Incumbent Whest Shirley won his district 3B seat outright, with 86.64 percent of the vote.
Incumbent Jerry Beatty won with 59.71 percent of the vote.
Incumbent Red Tiffee also won outright, with 57.37 percent of the vote.
In District 2, incumbent Willie Dunbar will face Fred Marsalis in a runoff.
In District 4B, long-time incumbent Melvin Ferrington will face challenger Jimmy Wilkinson in a runoff.
In District 5A, incumbent Jimmy Jernigan will face Samuel Tom Lowry in a runoff.
