Jimmy “Boo” Wilkinson
Wilkinson said he is running for the seat to see issues in his district that have existed for more than a decade finally get fixed.
“We’re not moving forward in district 4B because we’re still facing the same problems today that we faced 16 years ago,” Wilkinson said. “It’s time for a change.”
Wilkinson said his experience in the construction industry will allow him to formulate specific plans to eliminate drainage issues.
“In some places, the water gets up next to people’s houses, and it makes mold grow on the side of their house,” Wilkinson said. “In other places, we’re digging our ditches too deep. I’m real passionate about getting this drainage issue fixed.”
Wilkinson said if the police jury’s finances were run more like American households’, it would be able to fund more projects to benefit the district and parish.
“We do more with less at the house because we have to, and that’s just the way the economy is right now,” Wilkinson said. “I’ve lived here all my life, and it’s a great place to live, but we can make it a better community.”
