A special thanks to school district

There are a number of incredible organizations in the Miss-Lou that have very noble causes, working to provided needed services for members of our communities. With the number of charities present, volunteers and donors have quite a few choices when it comes to determining which ones to get involved with and provide support.

Therefore, the Adams County Court Appointed Special Advocates would like to express its gratitude to the Natchez-Adams School District for partnering with us and providing generous support to our organization, even in the midst of these turbulent economic times.

During the month of February, Natchez-Adams School District sponsored Friday jean days to raise donations for CASA. These donations will be used to make certain that advocates are available to serve as a voice to children in the custody of the state. Additionally, funds are used to provide needed support to vulnerable children.

CASA advocates and NASD serve a common segment of our community — our children. We understand that we serve children of all ages, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds. Additionally, the majority of children that we serve begin their childhoods with irresistible grins, vivid imaginations and incredible potential.

However, because of no faults of their own, some of these children fall victim to abuse and/or neglect. Therefore, these children stand in need of someone with the heart to care for them during a vulnerable period of their lives. Very often, teachers stand as rays of light, ensuring that students, despite their home experiences, are provided stability, care and concern at school.

We as CASA workers and volunteers are also committed to the ongoing fight against child abuse, building a solid reputation as a community partner and trustworthy steward of donated funds. We work diligently to also provide children with stability during turbulent, uncertain periods of their lives.

So, students, parents and employees of Natchez-Adams School District, we say thank you for your generous donations. As a CASA partner, your support will ensure that no child slips through the cracks of an overwhelmed judicial and foster care system.

Your support will see that each child is given the rights and opportunities he or she deserves while in state custody. Finally, your support will help children know that they are still special — with irresistible grins, vivid imaginations and incredible potential.
