Angelic Warriors hosting survivor’s tea
Published 12:01 am Thursday, March 8, 2012
Mark your calendars for Saturday for God’s Angelic Warriors 10th annual survivors tea from 3 to 5 p.m. at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, 207 Parker St.
We are asking our families and friends to attend and help us support this worthy cause. The funds raised will help our Relay for Life team support the American Cancer Society.
Our team this year is struggling but not in the least complaining because some of our active team members are now back in treatment(s). It truly is for this reason that we work tirelessly for the cause.
It is with hope that we learn from yesterday; live for today and hope for tomorrow. We are a faith-based support group that was founded by survivors Demetria Reed and Evelyn Smith.
The vision they had some 20-plus years ago is very much appreciated by the support group. We are here in the Miss-Lou to assist persons who have been diagnosed, treated and/or are in remission and healed.
We recently were asked to call a stage four cancer person in Missouri. It is for this and many reasons that we are asking the Natchez community to attend our 10th tea. All donations given go directly to the American Cancer Society and are tax deductible; make your checks out to the American Cancer Society.
We will not stop until we are no longer able to function, because the fight will not be over until there is a cure. Our assistance to anyone who has to gone through what we have been through or are now going through (surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation) is what we are about.
The support group is open to anyone who wishes to be a part of it.
Many times it is our healthy supporters that have helped to get us through. They have often provided rides to the clinics, mall, beauty salon or out to lunch. Oftentimes a phone call or a card will be all the support that is needed. Whatever we can do to get you the community involved with us, we would be pleased to do.
Join us at the tea for information concerning what we are all about and how you can get involved long term.
Most of us know or knew someone who is or was inflicted with cancer.
Our members who have lost the battle will be remembered during the tea.
Please join us for the tea and later in May for the Relay for Life.
