Leslie Hunt and Sharon Davidson have known Seyfarth for more than 25 years, and both say his faith in God and strength through adversity is an inspiration. Davidson said everyone, especially people who may have been recently diagnosed with cancer, should look to Seyfarth as a beacon of strength.
“If he’s not an inspiration to you, he should be,” she said.
Seyfarth said he was enjoying visiting with people at the benefit and watching all the festivities.
“I am really having fun and enjoying myself,” he said. “I’ve done a lot of laughing today.
The “ladies” of the womanless beauty pageant got the most laughs from the crowd at the benefit, but only one lucky contestant took home the Miss Cornbread-Fed 2012 title.
Miss Kitty Scratchin’ Post, also known as Walt Wilson, took home the crown and entertained the crowd dressed in a little black dress and a pink wig, cowboy hat and feather boa with her creative dance moves and feminine charm.
The event also featured a walk-a-thon, a space jump and puppy petting area for children, as well as 11 music acts.
Macie took the stage at the benefit to sing “East to West” and “Praise You In This Storm” by Casting Crowns, songs that resonate deeply in her father’s heart.
“We are praising Him in this storm,” he said. “He’s got a plan, and I’m just here living it. The kids understand that, and when He is ready, he’ll call me home.”
Macie and Landon said they were both excited for the trip with their father, and Macie said she was proud of her dad and all the people who have supported him. Landon said he, too, was proud of his dad and would stand strong for him.
“I have to stay strong for him,” he said.
