VIDALIA — Miss-Lou residents are invited to gather in Vidalia Saturday to help a Natchez man fighting cancer take a dream vacation with his family.

Every Mile a Memory is a benefit for Shane Seyfarth, a Natchez man who was diagnosed with colon cancer before it also spread to his lungs and liver.

The benefit will feature several activities like live and silent auctions, face painting and a jumper for children.

The main headliner events are a Walk-A-Thon, a womanless redneck beauty pageant and 11 music acts featuring Hannah Belle Southerland and Roger McRanie.

Kelly Elveston is Seyfarth’s life- long friend and is helping to organize the event.

Elveston said all donations and money raised during the event will go toward sending Seyfarth and his two kids to North Lake Tahoe in California for a snow resort vacation.

“Every cent and dollar we collect goes toward a memory-making dream trip for him and his kids,” Elveston said. “They had never been in the snow before, so this is the type of trip they wanted to take.”

Seyfarth is in his fifth round of chemotherapy treatments after the four treatments before had no effect on the cancer.

Seyfarth does not have insurance and has not been able to work since his diagnosis.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Vidalia Riverfront and Amphitheater, and admission is free.

The walk-a-thon will begin at 10 a.m. and runners or walkers can sign up behind the amphitheater.

The musical acts will rotate throughout the day with Southerland starting at noon and McRanie at 1 p.m.

At 3 p.m., there will be an auction for a custom deer stand, followed be an auction for a custom made Fender Telecaster electric guitar at 5 p.m.

A shuttle service will be provided from the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center parking lot to the amphitheater.

Donations can be made throughout the day during the benefit and also at any Concordia Bank Location in Seyfarth’s name.

In case of rain, the benefit will be at the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church in Natchez.
