Bluff not right place for display

I am including a picture I took of the display used by a certain group to further their agenda. You will see by the background that it was placed right in the middle of the park at the end of Main Street in Natchez. In my opinion this display has no business being put in the middle of the park over looking the Mississippi River, no matter what your personal view is. Tourists come from all over the world to see Natchez, not just the homes, but all of Natchez. We have a beautiful Trails Project that has enhanced the viewing of our town, and we are very proud of what the Trails Project has brought to tourism in this town.

I feel displays like this of a singular point of view have no place on the bluff in the middle of a lovely view overlooking one of the most beautiful, spectacular views in this country. I have absolutely no objection to the display or the opinion of those who were meeting there.

I just feel the display could have been put anywhere else; perhaps Memorial Park or Duncan Park. Everyone is free to meet at either of these venues. I just feel it is inappropriate to have anything displayed at this location on the bluff. It also opens up a “can of worms” for many, many other groups to hold meetings and express their agendas to all who pass by.

I hope there will be an ordinance put into effect, if there is not already one, that will keep people from putting up individual displays for their own agenda on our beautiful public Natchez Bluff Park and gazebo.
