FERRIDAY — A Ferriday woman visited two hospitals last week after being attacked by two pit bulls on Carolina Avenue Friday night.
Brenda Gale Carter was taken to Riverland Medical Center following the attack and sustained injuries to her legs and arms.
She was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center, treated and released on Monday.
Ferriday Police Chief Johnny Evans said Carter was walking down Carolina Avenue when the dogs attacked her.
Anitra Jefferson, 77, 205 Carolina Ave., was arrested on charge of leash law violations, vicious dogs and negligent injury.
Evans said the two dogs were picked up and euthanized Wednesday.
With several conversations being brought up at multiple Ferriday Board of Aldermen meetings regarding the town’s leash laws, Evans said what is a good example of action that needs to be taken against loose dogs.
“It’s not just the leash law, but they need to have something done with the dogs that are walking around,” Evans said. “To me, nobody should have any pit bulls just walking around.”
