Our spring schedule of special interest classes offers such a wide variety of topics you are sure to find one that will appeal to you. These classes are low cost, casual and promise to be stress free with no tests involved!
Mr. James Campbell is offering potential guitar players a chance to learn basic guitar chords and bass patterns in a very relaxed, casual, group atmosphere. If you have always wanted to learn guitar but felt a little intimidated, this is the class for you. Beginning guitar is taught on Tuesday evenings beginning Jan. 31.
4Yoga is good for you! Numerous studies through the years have proven that maintaining strength and flexibility is important to our bodies. Stacy Worley is combining yoga with an introduction to Ayurveda. Come learn about your Dosha and how you can best maintain a healthy balance in your life. Yoga and Ayurveda will meet on Thursdays for six weeks Feb. 2 to March 8.
4Mark LaFrancis will help take the mystery out of self-publishing. He can help you avoid the headaches and mistakes as he steps you through the process of seeing your work in print. Introduction to Self-Publishing: From Concept to Creation will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 and Tuesday, Feb. 21.
4AARP is offering a defensive driving course to drivers age 50 or older who would like to update their knowledge on the rules of the road. You will learn defensive driving techniques designed to help keep you safer. The class will meet Wednesday, Feb. 15 with registration beginning at noon.
4If you have ever been disappointed in the way your photos turn out, Introduction to Photography is the class for you. Barbara Kaiser will include instruction on composition, lighting and much more. This five-week class, Feb. 20 to March 26, can help you get more out of your camera.
4Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People returns once more to our schedule of classes. This one evening class has received rave reviews from those who have benefited from this “shorthand” method of playing piano. You can really play after only one class! This spring the class will meet from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27.
4If you have an iPad or an iPhone and you feel a little lost or confused it may be time to seek a little help. The iPad beyond Angry Birds class will help you learn how to be more productive with this fun but powerful tool. This one evening only class will meet Tuesday, March 6, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. On Thursday, March 8 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. you will have an opportunity to learn more about your iPhone. The title for the class says it all, I want an iPhone! I got an iPhone; now what?
4Ken Cavin is providing a very hands- on opportunity to learn basic building construction beginning Monday, March 19. For six weeks the class will work on a small shop or utility building from the ground up. What you learn in Basic Building Construction will help you tackle your own projects at home.
4Beginning Wednesday, April 18, Judy Wiggins will offer a fresh viewpoint of the Civil War. Heroines of the Civil War gives us a glimpse of the often overlooked deeds, acts of heroism, and suffering experienced by women of the era. These classes are not just another round of dry, boring history lectures; they are guaranteed to be engaging and informative.
